Apple's market capitalization is bigger than Citigroup's . The actual numbers at today's close were $135 billion for Apple and $123 billion for Citigroup. He's done so much damage in so little time that we're well over the cliff. And McCain will pick up right where Bush left off - with nice corporate welfar that allows outfits like CitiGroup to avoid any sort of financial sanity. No matter how badly they manage their money, there's a Republican in the wing waiting to bail them out. Expect the economy to go into a tailspin and stay down. America's peak is right behind us.

Still proud to be an American and I make under 40k. When I pay my electricity bill I don't complain at how high it is. I simply remember that I'm watching an occasional DVD, using my AC to keep cool on hot days and have a choice of hot or cold water. I've seen pics of children in Darfur drinking water from mud.

Fact is I'm not affected that much by what Citi does or any other company. I don't buy things that I can't pay for. My credit usage is under a thousand and I cover my bills. I tighten the belt when needed and if I can I don't give my money to companies that abuse people that have little.

I'm at the age where I can deny myself rather than walk into a store I view as irresponsible on the world stage.

As for Timmy, seems strange you have so much to say about the down-turn here and how terrible our nation is. Question is why you are wasting your time at this crummy American media site?

Bush and George W. Bush were never popular. But the Democrats put Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry against them! Any moderate Democrat could have beaten them, but Democrats want to make a statement in the primaries rather than vote for someone who has a chance to win. They have won three elections in the last 40 years and are not mature enough to take responsibility for their failures. They would rather blame the other candidate even though there are more Democrats in the country than Republicans. Grow up, Democrats.

Yes they have $2.2 trillion in assets. What are their liabilities? Chuck fails to mention that. Their liabilities are $2.1 trillion. Their equity as of the last balance sheet is only $114 billion. Of course Apple's equity is only $14.5 billion, so his point is still valid. Citibank has more then 200 million customer accounts in over 100 countries. You think FDIC can cover just the US part of that? Furthermore they have 374,000 employees. You want all those people to lose their jobs? So yes they are too big to fail. I hate bailouts as much as anyone, but at certain times they are a neccessary evil.

We all know ultimately it' ll go up a few dollars. Im willing to take that risk depending what's the market actual reaction would be after It's 1st qtr report and write downs. Could be a your nice long term investment (but not from a dividend's point of view)

I took my 1st ever withdrawal from my 401K and invest in Visa (V) and suggest you all to look into it.

You are so right.. THAT is what is going wrong with this country! America is turning into a police state, no longer a real democracy. The only thing that keeps the U.S. from being a full fledged police state is rich people with money who still buy their way out of anything. We have lost our way and I wonder if we will ever find the path back to what the founding fathers started and intended.

People are so engrossed now on how much toys they have, what money they earn and anything for themselves that America is no longer any way like what it was even 15 years ago. We have become greedy, self centered, egotistical, and selfish. I was going to say that we now worry more about our own interests than we do our next door neighbor... but that is no longer the case either.. Now on a whim instead of helping we simply turn them in for stupid things or because we "think" they are doing something illegal.

I am a Disabled U.S. Military Veteran injured in the line of duty for this country and when I went in to serve, I did so with the full belief in this country and its people and our way of life. I started serving in 1980 and have been on full disability now since 2005 due to those injuries. So I have been able to watch, listen and learn. I no longer believe that which I did when I entered the service because in this country I see no evidence it still exists.

Money has become our standard for living. Ask yourself... in the last few years what is the one thing that affects your happiness? What do you worry about more? George Bush or money?

I am one of those that wish the stock market did not exist and that what a man earned (or women) was based on hard work not on who guessed right on some piece of paper.

I also know and believe what I say here because as one of those disabled veterans, I watch everyone bask in their money while completely forgetting those of us that gave you the ability and freedom to earn that same money. Most people simply walk right by us without a care in the world as long as their pockets are full of green stuff.

We gave.. but you do not.

All Apple needs to do to be worth more according to this author is take out a 3 trillion dollar loan. Then Apple's assets would be worth 3.25 trillion much greater than Citi's!
