I agree 100% with Roy , the time for sitting around talking about what the government isn't doing has come to past. We're taught that making investments is a great way to build wealth and prosperity , in my humble and inexperienced view thee entire system we put faith in is a false hope at best. We cannot continue to grow. OK, you ask why , how about everyone wants more , but only a hand full have it , those with will never see that there way of thinking causes failure. The Government has allowed the Stock market to become our" Holy Grail ", what ever happen to just plain old hard work where a man can earn and save and make a life for his family. It is no longer possible , we all need more because everything cost more because Corporate America needs more , the CEOs of the large Corporations need there parachute payments to support there MORE life styles. Sad part is that as always , they build wealth on the back of the little man and then penalize him for not having what they have. What a pitiful world we live in. More, more, more, the people that made the investments with Mr Madoff were simply caught up in our More lifestyles. What's crazy is most of them had more than some can ever imagine , so they didn't need the money they just wanted MORE. Greed is what's driving our society, greed will cause our demise.

When one invests, sometimes he loses. The morons who invested with Madoff in this case should not have any special payments or privileges. They were greedy and, quite frankly, stupid not to have diversified their investments. They put their eggs in one basket and they got broken. Boo-hoo, get over it!

Bernie Madoff is not a crook. Hell show me one American who is a crook and Ill show you an illegal. God helped create this country in his image and by God he is not wrong. Get rid of the illegals, they are the ones that caused bernie to get caught. I made lots of money with bernie over the years and feel that if the illegals were gone I would still be making money. may God bless all but not the illegals.

I just don't have much sympathy for the Madoff victims. Sorry. In their own minds, they were too GOOD to invest with properly credentialed financial advisors. They didn't go out and find a hard-working CFP; they couldn't invest with their broker; no, they had to have the fancy-schmancy hedge-fund whoopee-doo investment that was exclusive and you had to know someone to get. Well, guess the "best of the best" - only for the rich folks - didn't work out too well, did it? Pride goeth before a fall. See you at Wal-Mart.

I agree with you about both no reimbursements and need for diversification.

"They are responsible for their own financial gullibility" !?!? Are you nuts? Do you expect average people to be able to figure what the SEC couldn't? How in hell would you expect me to figure that out from my home?

The gov't and tax payers should definitely not reimburse anything. The only people that should be sued are the people running the scam and people that have money from it. There are tons of employees of the company that had no idea it was a total scam.

Also, the SEC should not be sued but, they're intelligence should definitely be tested. The one's that aren't qualified should be fired. I watched a documentary on tv that proved some guy in another company reported Madoff for possible fraud a few times and the SEC did nothing. Not even investigate. Whoever got those reports should be fired regardless if they pass the intelligence test because, intelligence is nothing without the performance.

How come no one speaks of all the people who were getting all these high returns and cashing in at the early stages of the scheme?? Are these people culpable?
