And drinking. Gambling, too. As a way to shore up their decimated budgets, many state governments are playing vice cop, hiking "sin taxes" on the traditional American pastimes listed above. Sin taxes are nothing new

re: More 'sin taxes' ahead as states scramble for money

DO NOT VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every one who has run for higher public office and said they would put in a flat tax has lost, if they say they will give all citisens a retirement plan like the one the feds. congress and house have given them selves, they lose. I do truly beleive the polaticans have forgotten who they all work for, and it's time for all of them to also have to retire on the social security system they have given us, only then will they trie to fix it, now they feel no need as the gave themselves a almost royalist system. Funny how they see it, as if they are intitled to the very excessive retirement and , WE THE PEOPLE, have nothing to say about it!

If we continue to squabble about "fairness" in regards to what gets taxed and what doesn't, it's always comes down to perspective. The same person that's arguing against raising taxes to subsidize a government sponsored health care system has three kids in the public school system. It is fair I pay Federal and State (property) tax that fund a public school system when I have no children of my own? Of course not, but it's been that way since the 1900's I believe. Of course I'm sure that families with "dependents" will get a tax exclusion from the health care costs while the single people with no kids get hammered. It comes down to paying for things we might not personally use at all. Flat tax for eveybody. Live within your means!!!! If you can't afford kids, don't have them. It's not a right, it's a decision. If you can't afford a fancy car, don't buy one. If you can afford to buy surround sound for your big screen then go for it. By the way, I'm not for social health care either. Just an example on perspectives. I'm for less government hand outs and people being responsible and providing for themselves. Choose how you want to live your life and make it happen. But do it on your own dime!

Burn it all...Taxation without representation. Duly elected officials-for the people by the people....nice dream...tha's all. We got away from British Empire for same reason. We have exported most of our industry overseas, and now we are trying to "kill" the rest of it.

I do not smoke anything, drink, nor chew...nor anything else. Please do not make others pay sin taxes...tax the 2% + corps...no more bailouts...no more bonuses to senior executives of those corporations. Make politicians severely answerable back to the people, i won't comment on lobby + other special interest groups...no i will "can you say 4th rider who rides a pale horse ?" Lot of this is our fault...the common working slobs like me...we have become apathetic, medicore, ignorant, and stupid. We have envoked " The Pac-man Syndrome" where we have let our government take our rights away...have to support all rights, not pick and choose.

These new sin txes for our health...Feds & states etc do not care about our health..it's purely about revenue. Let's stop funding the world, get out of conflicts that will kill our good men & women for years to come for nought, tighten thumb screws on our government's wreckless spending,,,and once again hold them severely accountable.
