as long as this is a per rental price qodel I would never use this and leave netflix. If apple could create a flat fee pricing model that would allow a max number of movies you could have downloaded at once they could almost put netflix out of business.

To the person that said that he would not buy the apple devices to play movies. The radio is free and look at how much people spend on ipods and mp3 players. People will pay for what they want and when they want it. I think this is going to be huge.

I think that this would be awesome. For those that don't want to purchase Mac products, then don't. Nobody's forcing you to. But for those of us who prefer Mac and already have Mac products, its gonna be great to have this option.

I have downloaded a movie from iTunes (which took about 45 minutes over cable modem for a 3 hour movie) and then transferred it to my iPod (which took about 2 minutes) and have watched it on my LCD flat screen TV via my Denon interfaced system which has an iPod dock connected to the receiver. It's awesome and works quite well. I'm not sure I'd rent a movie if the cost was not much more to buy it, but I think this is a great option.

I think it is hilarious that the folks who criticize Apple the loudest have clearly never used one of their products. Proprietary? You mean like the Zune, which Microsoft's own operating system Vista doesn't support? Those who say that Apple is proprietary, I remind you that iTunes works on Windows, and songs from iTunes can play in any player.

This MIGHT be cool only if you have the Apple TV thing. AND if the quality is good. Has anyone listened to any songs they downloaded from iTunes on a quality set of headphones...bass and drums sound more like garbage can lids smashed together...they need to be constantly changing their algorythms.
