Two Words: Ubuntu Linux

Same as mac, costs $0. Your paying more for looks of a computer and name.

And if you can't fix your pc crashes/bugs that means you do not know how to take care of your machine. I pearsonally suggest Ubuntu Linux, dual boot your system and try that before switching to a mac, it will save you money; Especially in these times. You can download Ubuntu for free as stated above.

I always wanted a Macbook, too, but my dad wouldn't let me (actually, my dad is a guy that's EXTREMELY and LITERALLY nuts about PCs and especially Windows). Although I understand that Mac users love their Macs into pieces, I have an acquaintance named Monica Chernoguz (yes, she currently lives in Boston!) and she hated her Macbook (and she got it as a Brandeis freshman student only because the entire Brandeis University only uses Mac; no Windows, ever). *sigh* I wish Monica would've loved that Macbook into pieces; I WASN'T even expecting her to hate it. Well, guess what, Monica? I HATE WINDOWS. I hate, hate, hate Windows because that stinking computer is always slow; there is lots of annoying pop-ups that we always have to get rid of; whenever we succeed in downloading something, we always need to restart all the time; IT LITERALLY CRASHES AND FREEZES ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!! I don't even want another Dell (actually, I have one and I really hated it!) nor do I ever want HP! I am better off with Apple now! Seriously. End of story. Have a nice day, folks!

Many people in the Public do not realize the fact that within the Civilian world, Leaders are very rare, and Managers (paper pushers, bean counters, lawyers) are the norm and many Civilians do not even know the difference.

Which would make it almost impossible to find and train a replacement. Having experience as both US Military Officer and as a Apple Representative (built one of the first Apple Stores within a Store, Computer City, 1993, and later CompUSA, 1998.) this is very clear to me, that you are irreplaceable as a Leader (the norm in the US Military). It is also clear the you do know that there are many "I"s in real Teams: Innovation, Ingenuity, Intelligence, Iniative, Involvement, Individuality, etc. unlike that non realistic example of a Sports Team that the most expensive player makes or breaks the Sports Team.

Some may see you and Steven Wozinak as creative driving force behind Apple Computers, you are, with your creative vision of the future of what Apple and Personal Computers must become. I have seen this since the 1970s.

I am not one of the "Apple kool-aid drinkers" but this trade show defined a strong support for a product and to have abandoned it as no longer needed. Well it just shows that Apple is and always has been arrogant.

I'll play both sides here. I have held MSFT stock since 1995 and cant wait to get get rid rid of it at a slightly higher price. On the other hand I am typing this on a MAC and listen to an iPod. However, I just bought my 74 year old dad a Zune for Christmas. The reason? He can pay $15/mo and never have to worry about how to "rip" or "burn" a CD. All CDs ae just a SIMPLE click away. The boomers are coming and Apple at least for the iPod missed it. (MACs are great!)

I was so upset, flustered,and depressed about Steve Job's decision that I went right out and bought shares of Apple at a 6% discount off of Tuesday's close.

A sound and accurate evaluation of the news about "macworld hysteria".

With regards to mac and it's survival, i have only to say this. the mac genie is out of the bottle and winning hearts and minds in masses, there is no putting it back in the bottle. The competitors have only to keep up. I liked the description of "falling in love" in the comments. Who can beat that feeling when it comes to using a computer or mobile phone? Ever heard of falling in love with a dell or HP, Nokia or SAMSUNG?

To be more precise, breakthroughs do not come in annual increments. The press had whipped up hysteria over each expo aclaaiming that each event should cough up some breakthrough product or (it was implied) why have the expo). Well now we have the answer. Breakthroughs don't come every January on the January. They come when the need exists and the technology is advanced to meet that need, even if we didn't know we needed it until the solution appeared.

So now Apple can avoid the rumor frenzy and announce new products when they are ready. Not necessarily less often or more often or at any set pace. Sort of an Orson Welles moment. We sell no wine until it is ready.

Apple will continue to sell iMacs, iPhones, iPods, iThis, and iThat. They will continue to get better and will also continue to grow their market share - with or without Steve Jobs. With or without MacWorld.

I have always siad that PC users use PC's, Mac users love their Macs. As more people discover what they've been missing in the world of Apple, more people will fall in love with their Macs.
