There have been many changes over the years and some I feel have not always been for the best. I do know though that when I have needed help the most they have always been there. My benefits may not be the best in the world but they are good when it counts. My husband has 3 kinds of neuropathy and diabetes which came on all of a sudden about 12 years ago. Wal*Mart insurance paid all but $200 of the medical costs we incurred when we went to Mayo Clinic and I was very thankful for that. I have worked for Wal*Mart for 24 years and I am proud of the things they do for the communities they build in. It is not just jobs and tax revenues but the dollars they donate to charities and community events and the scholarships they give out to kids and adults going to college for the first time or going back for more education.

I'm working at WAL-MART for 5 years they have a very good benefits and i'm glad to be apart of WAL-MART family. My husband was diagnosed a cancer and his been to chemo and radiation. We went to MAYO CLINIC for his STEM CELL TRANSPLANT at no cost for us 100% medical bills, free transportation, free hotel and food allowances. Do you think other big companies can take care it i don't think so? When my husband doctor at MAYO CLINIC call to set his appointment we only call to WAL-MART main office at Arkansas and they send us a plane ticket going to MAYO CLINIC. Our plan cost $90 a month for a family of 3 with a co-pay of $20 per doctor visit. I loved to work at WAL-MART they take care my family and they have a good benefits.

Now they make enough money and because of the the cars got more expensive... well at least they can buy foreign cars, you'd rather have 80% of the americans having no car at all i guess? use your ****** head man!

i don't get it. Without unions, most americans would'nt have the luxury they have right now. are they the reason there's outsourcing to cheaper countries? no, your lifestyle is the reason. Also, complaining that there are no good quality american shoes anymore is totally ridiculous, except of course if you want slavery and exploitation back? I guess you are willnig to do the dirty work for a few $$ a day huh?

Btw unions are a consequence of the free market and freedom of association, you can't be against that if you're a true amercian, believing in free markets.

And yeah i'm talknig bout real unions, not mob-infiltrated syndicates.

and to finish: i wonder if wallmart pays people to make up a nice story of how they work there and life is all good. It's almost scientology-style, all those comments about how great wall mart is.

Union bosses demands and strikes and all the sheep that follow them, fail to realize that these demands are causing the rise in prices everytime they get a benefit and pay raise. Now we get shoddy made goods without the U.S. quality because companies downsize and outsource for their bottom line which is profit. Companies are not built to be non-profit, so competition and competing prices are the mainstay. I am daily reminded by our customers that our prices are much lower than the surrounding chain markets. As far as supporting the community, all the people that work for Walmart are the community, and we serve the community. Employees I work with for the most part, love working for Walmart. It is like one big family and when one of us is in need, we are all there to help out. Walmart might be a large international company, but each store represents the community around it and it is a large employer and we earn and spend within the community. Which in turn keeps the many businesses around us going. Unions have priced themselves out of existence. The thought to pay some gangster-led organization for the right to work appalls me, and the blind fools that follow unquestionably amaze me. Has anyone ever figured out how much they lost during a strike and how many years would that nickle raise take to earn it back. Foolish!! Notice the salary of those union bosses doesn't stop while you are walking around in the rain with your signs. My husband is UAW, and neither of us ever liked it. But he was one of three generations that worked for the auto industry and if they had a choice they would have preferred not to join a union. Forcing workers to join a union should be unconstitutional.

I love Wal-Mart my husband has been working there for 14 years. He drives for them. Delivers the items to the stores. Wal-Mart has done a lot for us. The benefits are great. We are all like family. If a fellow employee needs help or support they always get it. Wal-Mart contributes a lot to the communities they are in. I am so sick of all the negative stuff. Why not tell the Great things that Wal-Mart does. Like helping kids with cancer. Giving gifts to kids that don't have anything at christmas time. We need more Businesses to step up to the plate. Wal-Mart pays its fair share. You won't see them filing bankruptcy. And for Elizabeth most employers don't pay holiday pay if you aren't there the day before and the day after so it isn't just a Wal-Mart thing. So I will keep shopping there and I know a lot of people that will do the same cause we save money by shopping there.

Happy Holidays to all

Would it not be better for everyone if instead of thousands of Walmarts we had tens of thousands of small independent businesses? When Walmart can sell retail at what smaller retailers must pay wholesale, how is that fair competition? When Walmart can move into an area and sell at a loss if it so desired until it drives out its competition, is that fair competition? Walmart is approaching what amounts to a retail monopoly because it has the power to even contol its vendors.

If everyone stops shopping at Walmart who do not like it Walmart will have a hard time surveing. The documentary stated that all the Waltons during the year 2005 made 20 billiion each yes thats right. They also have their own bomb shelter. I wonder who they would get to be their slave when everyone else is dead from a nuclear attack. That same documentary also said they have a donation fund for neady familys. Walmart employees gave over a million dollars in 2005. The waltons 20 thosand. Isint that ironic!!! Say no to new Walmart Stores and dont shop their.

granted no employer, even the nation's largest retailer likes hearing that word, much less seeing it on payroll, but we all know thereare times where you dont have a choice.and we all know that a multi billion dollar corporation like walmart can afford to pay it

and we as associates also dont take crap from management when they try anything that is against company policy. perhaps the associates that work there might try that approach.when store management has tried anything all we have do is make a call to bentonville( home office) and complain. they get enough complaints they can ,will and have sent people from there to find out whats going on there. store managers have been known to be fired over what they have found

in stores that have complained to the home office so it sounds like they need to get their heads out of their rear ends and do something about it.

When I moved to this town there were several small stores to choose from, Walmart came in and ate them up. At the time, I didnt' care, but guess what? They started raising the prices. Big time. Within a year I was paying as much or more at walmart as I would have paid at Homeland and others. Now, I have no place to go. I hate it. Service is bad, I stand in line for long periods of time, sometimes in line longer than it took me to shop. They are rude when you ask them things, and you can't go anyplace else. I will wait in line forever because they have 4 people working registers on a busy Saturday, and have 20 registers closed. My mom worked for them for years. She never got holiday pay because you have to work the day before and the day after the holiday, she is a dyalisis patient and only worked every other day because she did dyalisis every other day for 5 hours. Never got the pay because she couldn't work those days. Same with sick pay, really odd ball. She made 8.00 an hour when she finally quit, after years of service. Back in the day I loved walmart, then again, back in the day, they were a different store.
