WE HAVE FINALLY AWAKENED TO SEE THE REAL TRUTH IN THE GREED OF GOVERNMENT AND THESE BIG BUSINESSES..

Ironically, some of these people are the same people who were NIMBYs and opposed localized energy, mostly wind around here, some solar/geothermal/biomass, and who now don't have any power...

As a result of NIMBYism, we are now battling massive NYRI power lines powere by new polluting coal plants going through all our land and farms down to power NYC, and we are also affected by a "Millenium Pipeline" which also transports natural gas to the city without any towns along the way getting any benefit..since living here, I realize we are a giant toilet bowl for the city...hopefully, now that NYC is down the c r a p p e r as well, people who live in "rural" areas can get some equal rights...except for all the second landowners who oppose any development who worked on wall street, maybe that "immigration" problem will turn around as well...and they can go somewhere else,

Hispanics do more for our local economy as they actually work and live here and put kids in school, put money back in local circulation, second home owners do nothing except run for local boards and oppose everything.....

I think we should all just stare at the wall...it is about as educational as "reality" TV.....ironically, our govt. "insulates" us from actual reality, such as stealing our money transferring wealth by paulson, insurmountable debt burden for our children just to maintain our current lifestyle, not to mention decreased quality of life, most likely now a stagflationary, jobless recovery environment, ignoring current genocide in Congo, etc., bombing other "muslim" countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, mostly just innocent villagers creating even more hatred towards us.....bush every day relaxes pollution standards, in the last week he has allowed unlimited drilling in protected areas, and released emission standards from coal plants....

alll to create a huge f*()^^ mess for Obama to inherit...the ONLY chance for any change is to vote in all new people with new ideas.....

GM will disappear no matter who is president...we need to concentrate on creating new jobs for a new economy, and a new manufacturing sector.....change will happen, regardless...and we can benefit or not, look at Germany, the world's leader in solar, and they have the climate and sun of anchorage....then compare to palin who just gets paid off by oil companies....and turns around and pays all AK residents with profits....in the thousands, with no taxes....

shouldn't we all get rebate checks from exxon??

why is one "socialism" and the other is not???

yeah for Exxon, another record breaking profit of which ZERO or maybe .01% will go to "alternative" energy..meaning anything other than petroleum.....

maybe we should call other energy "domestic" energy vs. "foreign" energy....would americans change their attitudes then????

I'm so sick of getting stuff for x-mas...that I've been wishing for a gift exemption the last few years. Maybe I finally got what I wished for. With a 4 year old daughter it usually takes me a few months to figure out where in the house to put the stuff. The stuff drives me crazy. Sadly, I don't look forward to x-mas at all anymore. Simple is so much better. I think a lot of Americans are becoming like myself... just look at the interior decorating catelogs that show no clutter.

How can you cancel that? During the 1970's recession, we made ornaments from toilet paper rolls covered in yarn, and cut paper snowflakes. The kids were thrilled to turn on the lights on the tree. We baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast and drank hot chocolate while the kids opened 2 homemade presents apiece. Our dinners were sometimes chicken stew, but we made the best of it. It could always be worse.

faith, hope with charitable offerings to each other. If presents make children smile

so be it, if having a grand christmas meal together so be it, if going to mass at mid-

night then the rebirth of each year is well worth it.. Forget the economy this year

and count the blessings you do have. If your not of the Christian faith, if your not

of the Jewish religion then share what the meaning of this free society means to you and your family. Thank the people who came before you so you can have a

free place to come and express your renewal even in tough times. Be Thankfull!

For the Hiltons, Rockefellers, Gumps, etc., of the world Christmas will always be bountiful I would imagine. For small business it hurts big time. For us babyboomer' caregivers it might be more than a hard pill to swallow just to cough up enough money to take care of our aging parents. And that will be many years for some of us. If big business were to pay back the money they owed us we could all have a fair share in holiday celebrations. You can't take away the mental imaging of the magic of Christmas! I guess we can be thankful for that! How does the child's prayer go, Thank thee Lord for the food I eat, etc....." You can fill in the rest!

My christmas is having a good dinner with my family. Getting together and being thankful for what we have. Celebrate the birth of Christt or what or ever your religous belief is during the upcoming holiday period, and be with your family or your loved ones. Every one can make gifts with a little creativity. You don't always have to put a price tag on a gift. Life and family are the best gifts of all in life. My wife and i are putting are efforts and putting a Christmas party toghether for foster kids here in our home city. This is for some they may not even have a christmas. Remember this is a holiday for giving not recieving. What ever happened to helping your neighbor when in need? Instead it's seems like every man for himself.

One more note. When my grandmother pasted away she was worried about what people would do if some thing ever happened and people had to take care of themselves without the luxuarys we have come so accustom to today. Most of the nation will be in a very sorry state. Who can live off the land that god gave us? Not many.

She was 94 when she past away. Growing up through the 1900's These people in this era had to deal with alot trouble times and made the best of it no matter what.

But lets make Christmas or any hoidays the best we can, even in hard times. It will make all us stronger.
