The price of gasoline is rediculous. People are being laid off and taking their money out of the banks and stock market. The federal government and my bank are pressuring me to give them more money, which I do not have. What do the stores expect us to do!!!. It is all going downhill!!!. Help, help, help!!!

No! After talking to my mom who lived through the depression, standing in line for cheese, bread and other food, we are no where near a depression. Take a look at restaurants. They're packed at lunch and dinner (with people packing their already busting guts). I went to a large shopping center this past weekend that opened a couple of months ago. The traffic to get in was like the traffic coming out of a major league baseball game or like trying to get into Disneyland. And the parking lot was packed. Hmph! some depression. Things are pretty good out there. When you start to see the streets become deserted, then maybe we've hit bottom, but for right now things look great.

With little competition, HEB grocery chain has little incentive to lower prices. The only bright spot is that milk and eggs are cheaper at Costco but they don't carry anything like a full line of groceries. Gas is now $2.79 but diesel is still way too high and many of the rural people depend on their big trucks for a living. Worst problem is that the yuppies still insist on mostly prepared foods which are way overpriced cause they are too lazy to prepare a real meal.

here's a solution - eat less. food will cost you less. you'll burn less gas driving and flying your fat ass all over the place. you'll be less of a burden on yourself financially as you miss less work, are sick less. you'll reduce the burden on medicare and insurance. your brain will work better and you'll be able to understand advanced concepts and won't be duped by idiot regimes like bush, mccain/palin.
