Hey, I run a business, and who is there to bail me out when business is down"NOBODY"!!! So what the h@ll is the stupid, blind , idiotic government doing by giving these crooks, and crybabies our taxdollars, so they can fly around in corporate jets, and get bonuses they do not deserve!!!? Not to mention, if they paid their employees what they are worth, instead of three times that, they might not be in this situation! It,s obviuos they don,t know how to run the business, so why the heck are they there??

DOES anyone see this , or is everyone BLIND??

Take a MATH lesson or three, that is TOTAL SALES combined for ALL manu's adjusted to reflect total sales in a FULL YEAR...

Lets not spread FUD on top of the panic....

Hey dave you need to move to a communist country with those ideas. yea lets get the government involved . they are so efficient they will get us the best prices for all our cars. you are the idiot that buys these overly expensive cars and then you want to blame the people selling them. have you ever heard of consumer guide . they tell you what cars are the best deal for your money. Most of the time it is not the SUV or porsche it is honda toyota nissan.

If people would only listen to the "Past"...I know it's a wisper, but Henry Ford said it best, "We have to sell our product so the middle class can afford it!" If the auto makers could wake up and sell product between $10,000.00 and $18,000.00 dollars, those car payments would be more in line with what people earn, rather than having another house payment to deal with. Once volume starts up their cost of manufacturing would come into line, maybe with a little help from the Feds, and a lot of oversight, nobody trusts the executives of these companies anymore, they've tipped their hand at un-check greed.

I bought a new Chevrolet in 2003. No one stuck a gun in my face or even pressured me to by a truck or SUV. I bought a Malibu, my first new car since 1979. I had heard so much about what poor quality GM cars were and I had been cionvinced until I met a guy who told me about 2 Chevy's he'd purchased. He had owned both Chev's and Toyotas.

I was never more surprised at what a good quality car it was. I was replacing an 88 Camry and I was surprised that my Malibu with a v-6 got 29 mpg. I've driven it over 110,000 miles and I still love it. Meanwhile, GM made millions of SUV's. Who wanted them? CONSUMERS, that's who. You asked for it and you got it. Now it's shame on them for supplying to the demand? I don't think so! Toyota and Honda are selling worldwide and in some countries were not allowed to sell in (by high import taxes). They Introduced BIG SUVs and pick-ups here too. Gee, I wonder why, Are they as stupid as the big 3? They already make more small cars for the world markets so it's easier for them to bring them here. I'm all for competition, but we need to protect our domestic industries, not just cars either. If we're not allowed to sell our stuff in their country, then they should expect the same here. Likewise, I'm not in the same position as many Chinese. (at least not yet) I'm not willing to live in a government dormitory with 11 other room mates making $200.00 month and having everything I own in a box at the end of my bed. I can't and WON'T compete with that. I'm all about protectionist policies for uneven playing fields. We need to ask why this stuff is happening. We need to ask if the people making all this stuff are protecting their workers, the environment, their consumers. When they meet the same OSHA regulations, EPA rules, Consumer safety rules, Recall requirements. Then lets see how well they compete!

Quit Buying Cars altogether And Ride a Bike Or walk, used cars are the best bet there are to many Americans who think there rich... so save your $ and buy your kids some college instead.

I'm a finance director with a major player in the midwest with over 20 stores. We've noticed a tremendous drop in NEW sales, but our used sales are UP! We've also experienced RECORD numbers in our service department as people are fixing their old cars more than they are buying new ones. Our budget lot(cars under 5,000 bucks) has seen a 200 percent increase in the last 6 months....instead of the customer putting 4 or 5 k down, their buying cheap cars. We literally can't keep a car with a price tag under 3k! YOu have to change with the times if you're going to continue doing business....With that in mind...when we sell a new car.....we don't replace it. Our inventory is dwindeling to crazy lows, and if we need a new car for a picky customer...we find it through dealer locates. We keep their old trades and sell them on our increasingly popular "budget lot", for bigger profits than selling a 30,000 new car. Crazy times in madison wisconsin!

The annual sales was down less than 10% so where do you come up with monthly sales down between 9 and 37%. you guys who have acces to the media always put a slant on things negatively. Why are we bailing out the us companies. we have plenty of other companies to fill the automotive needs of the public. These guys are bozos.. auto shops will still be in business, spare parts supply companies will still sell parts ,, so what is the big deal,, Poorly run companies should go out of business. I know of one GM employee who was paid for 20 years who has not worked a single day. and is collecting retirement. If he hasen't died resently.

If the oil company owners did not own controlling interest in all automobile companies I'd say give them a break. But you know there will never be a really high gas mileage car.

Question 2: Why is there only 3 american auto manufactureres? Buying a car is like going to Walmart, you pay what they tell you to pay, just like at the pump. Shop gas, there isn't 1 cent difference between gas stations in a 60 mile radious.
