I said a SMALL helping hand...not the ridiculous loans made to people who would NEVER have qualified under the older, saner rules. A LITTLE help is one thing...allowing almost anyone--white or minority--to get a loan on demand is pure madness!

J.P.Morgan (and a few close friends...including the Secretary of the Treasury) created the Federal Reserve, and after causing panic in the market, got the entity accepted by the government with the help of Aldrich. Thomas Jefferson fought Hamilton to prevent a central bank. When he said our "children would wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered" if we let a central bank control our currency and economy....well... he was just a conspiracy theorist I guess. Who's losing their homes? Naaaa. Now Barnanke and Paulson are to head the "Office of Financial Stability"? So why did the stocks RISE the day AFTER the bill was defeated...and PLUMMET the day AFTER the senate passed Porky's II? Why are 200 economists who are NOT directly involved saying it won't work? Why are the crooks from Fannie Mae's royalty now on one of the candidates payroll as advisors? The corruption needs to end!!! I'm taking Jefferson's advice on how to deal with a government who doesn't listen anymore. Try googling the constitution. AND TELL THEM NO!!!!! NO BAILOUT!!!!!!!

p.s. Tom P and Dennis seem to be inline with everyone I've talked to. Why isn't this making the headlines?

(look it up, New York Times, 9 years ago) Congress and banks were under relentless pressure to not be 'racist' and support giving loans to all people, no matter their income. So now we are paying the price. There are many to blame for this. Though he did contribute his share to the mess, it can hardly fall all on the Bush admin. All politicians and lobbyists need to share in the blame, they all pass laws and share in the decision making, not just the prez. and also look in the mirror... in the last 10 years did you make purchases that were above your means, or that you couldn't afford? thought so.

But they just kept piling up bad loans and getting wealthier every day.

And like they didn't expect the government to bail them out at the taxpayers expense.

This is the result of the lack of regulation under the Bush administration. Only a fool would give more to the rich and think that prosperity would trickle down.

I guess anybody who voted for Bush has realized a little late that they shot themselves in the foot.

Perhaps those same people will realize what a vote for Mccain will mean, and shoot themselves in the other foot now.

Might as well, we're going to the pits.
