And while the new restrictions seem pretty generous, I'm on high alert for what I call the Comcast gotcha .
I should be able to at least tie this up for a year or two. Remember that there are those of us that have been using the PC before there was an internet. AOL is the first "bulletin board service" that I used and they metered service. I paid less for less time and vice-a-versa. Play fair and this law suit won't happen come up with a fair and equatable payment schedule and we will support you. Dont lie and tell us it is about bandwidth. It is about on line content eating into your profits. Please tell us the truth we are not children.

SO all the hype that Comcast has a fiber network really only applies to then not the home or business user. Because of this you are left with all the limitations that cable has such as having to limit bandwidth etc. When Comcast purchased AT&T’s @ home service, AT&T was installing a true fiber back bone with several layers of redundancy. The plan was to run fiber to the home. Comcast has left these substations alone and dark and has not bothered to use them. But it seems that,

A: They don’t know how to or are willing to finish building out their “fiber” network. B: they want to try to overcharge for their service and claim that building a fiber network is expensive (BTW Coax per foot is more expensive than fiber now, but don’t let the public know they may start asking were all the money is going) or C: The board of directors don’t care. They got what you want and you’re willing to pay for garbage. And they have just added another trash bag to the heap.

(yeah I know, they should know better, yada yada yada)If you have one person in an apartment sharing their connection with 5 people (or as many as 15-20) your total bandwidth has just been chopped up like crazy..... Especially considering that people stealing that wifi signal are also more likely to be illegally downloading music/apps/etc.

As a user of the bittorrent protocol, but someone who does not go bat-s**t with file sharing, I for one welcome the change! Agreed, hopefully they don't lower it on a whim. But that's what competition is for... others are welcome to provide more for cheaper, if they can.

I was able to put together that I had violated their unspoken bandwidth policy and they were still unwilling to tell me exactly what that limit was. So... I told them to cut everything, cable TV, high speed internet, and to never bother me again with any of their offers. AT&T has my business now, and as soon as I can go fiber, I will. I miss high speed cable... but I HATE COMCAST. I was paying Comcast $60 a month for 6 Mb per sec / 12 Mb per sec with Power Boost downloads and 512 Kb per sec uploads. I'm paying AT&T $20 a month for 3 Mb per sec downloads and 256 Kb uploads. I think I can live with that for a little while longer... while I continue to plot Comcast's ultimate demise.

I already know they limit speeds even though you pay for higher speeds you don't get what you pay for. In fact my qwest was just as fast for regular surfing as Comcast is, but their file downloads are faster +75% of the time.
