Ya know, I am not a particularly sophisticated person when it comes to the financial markets--yet I had to wondered if there wasn't something amiss. So people lost their jobs because they couldn't afford to get to work...or got laid off because the employer had not choice in the economic slowdown. The Fat Cats eniriched themselves at the expense of the working class yet again??

Why am I not surprised? Now, Congress, if they are pressured enough and are convinced that someone is watching, will close a loophole that should have been closed right from the start with the Enron bill. Bet they won't find out who profited from this mess and do anything about it. They impoverished working class families and will get away with it. Hmm, and they wonder why we are cynical about politics....

Congress? Big Oil? Big Corporations? Big Money? None of them get it...or do they? If they keep the cost of Energy,Food, and everything else that the Mid to Lower income people need to just survive they get the rest. Yes all of it! Let the big corporation execs take a major pay decrease, get rid of the cronies (thier Board of Directors) that have allowed big pay for failing execs put more people to work at a fair wage and the economy would improve because the majority of people would have enough money to buy something besides gas to go to work.

If Congress would like to make a start, why not check into the First Quarter Billion dollar PROFITS made by Major gasoline producers in this country! How is it possible for these companies to have such HUGE profits if they are paying higher prices for crude.

Could it be that they will use their surplus profits to cut prices at the pump by 75%! Is this the control congress is looking for? Oops, no, that would possibly change the lifestyles of about 3 dozen people and God forbid that should happen! Much easier to allow the people of the US to "deal with it" because we have done it before and will continue to "pay the price".

Why should congress care...they have the money to put gas into their SUV/s

it's us, the little guy who is suffering ....we who don't have mass transportation

and have to rely on our little cars to get to the grocery store and drugstore...

we who are living on a fixed income..... I say, let's start drilling in Anwr and

everywhere else we can to get our prices down!

nationalize the oil companies. Their laughing at us. Tax the crap out of them and use the money to lower the at the pump prices. Put blockades around all the oil producers until the prices come down. Nothing in and nothing out. See if they can eat their oil. Also remember george bush is an oil man - he's just rewarding all his oil buddies. He does not care one bit about the usa or the people that live here. If he did, there would be immediate decisive action taken to reduce the oil prices. If we can go to war by one mans decision, then we can fix the oil crisis the same way.

The cost to produce crude oil and then refine into gasoline and diesel fuel etc. did not increase fourfold in two years. The increses are definitely related to greed and manipulation. When will we wake up?
