Is Slim Jim an endangered species?

Get ready for a summer Slim Jim shortage. The New York Post reports that Slim Jim fans may be hoarding the processed meat product, and it soon could be disappearing from store shelves.

An explosion last month destroyed the only Slim Jim plant in the U.S., the Post reports. And the company that makes Slim Jims, ConAgra (CAG), hasn't produced any since then and won't do so for at least another month.

Industry analysts say that Slim Jim loyalty is very high, and that people aren't going to be OK with substitutes if the real thing is gone. That's why some fans may be hoarding the remaining supply.

Analysts tell the Post that ConAgra could produce as many as 500 million Slim Jims every year. ConAgra said it won't return to full Slim Jim production until the fall.

"The sooner, the better," writes the Post. "Yesterday one convenience store in Midtown Manhattan was still selling foot-long Slim Jims that expired in February."

A group of ConAgra workers who were injured in the accident are suing the company and two contractors, the Associated Press reports.

It's partly because of Slim Jims that I can identify the taste of beef heart.

NO!! SLIM JIMS!!!! (with tabasco) I NEED THEM!!!!

oh, i thought they were talking about those things that get you into your car when you are locked out. i figured there would be a decline in auto thefts for the summer.

Wait, Slim Jim's expire??

Finally, some news to  displace the fawning over the dead pedo freak.

Now would be a great time for a worthy would-be competitor to introduce a similar alternative snack to snatch some market-share.  Or has the USA run out of entrepreneurial spirit since the Messiah has begun the process of transforming the country into a socialist basket case?

A note about "natural".  Natural has never guaranteed safe or healthy and conversely, processed has never guaranteed unsafe or unhealthy.  If you want to test my hypothesis try this little experiment: eat one jar of peanut butter - definitely processed.  Not dead?  Ok then, now eat 2 handfuls of nightshade berries (belladonna) - definitely all natural.  Dead yet?  Yep.

Just because the bottle says "All Natural" doesn't mean you can unplug your brain and stop thinking critically.  Give me a break with your b*tching about garlic powder.  Are you serious?

Congress must pass an immediate  Slim Jim Stimulus plan!!!

umm they taste like meat flavored paper towels

WTF is the explosive ingredient in a Slim Jim?

Believe it or not, Slim Jims make excellent bait for rat or mouse traps.  I guess the vermin like a little pepperoni to go with their cheese.
