AIG bailout means facials, pedicures

First off, I apologize if this post makes you throw up. Got a trash can handy? Here we go....

Remember that $85 billion government bailout of insurance company AIG? Surely executives there must be under the gun, working all hours to dig the company out of trouble. Our taxpayer dollars demand that, right?

Nope. Less than a week after getting the $85 billion commitment, AIG execs went on a week-long retreat at the luxurious St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif. The trip cost AIG almost half a million dollars, including $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 in spa charges.

Sometimes, after you've worked hard at running a company into the ground, only a pedicure will do. Oh, and a stiff drink. The tab also included $25,000 in "leisure dining," also known as drinking in bars.

Documents uncovering the AIG vacation came out today during a hearing on Capitol Hill.

"If a company is drowning and you're going to spend that kind of money, that's crazy," said one Congressman during the hearing. "The American people are paying for that."

"This unbridled greed," said another. "It's an insensitivity to how people are spending our dollars."

AIG has some explaining to do. But for some reason Congress didn't get any current executives to show up.

The only defense -- a laughable one at that -- came from Eric Dinallo, head of New York State's insurance department.

The worst thing that could have happened after the bailout was for AIG employees to flee the company, Dinallo said. "There was a thinking that they needed to bring everyone together," he said, according to Dealbreaker. "This was not a crazy corporate decision."

There you have it. Bailout be damned; the Wall Street mentality has not changed.

"Legally", we did not HAVE TO bail them out

THIS is just another case of big bizz and DC doin what ever they want with our money ,,It seems to me that WE THE PEOPLE have no control over what goes on

if you or I did this we would go to jail but they will get a slap on the butt like a little kid...... WHAT IS HAP.to this country the banks are out of control the ins. biz is still a

rip off... the IRS just went after my fathers SS($800 a month) for back taxes from the 60 s and hes got 3 dif kinds of cancer WTF and almost dead

I think that as a people we should start a movement and just not pay our income tax for 1 year and watch it bring DC back down to earth ......TO HELL WITH DC AND AIG AND THE BANKS LET EM BURN

Do you really think AIG executives are at fault here? Do you really think there may be more to this story than what you hear on the news? Maybe some of you Morons should find the facts prior to posting your pea brain thoughts. AIG didn't grow to be the biggest insurance company in the world because of lavish vacations but to insure their customers to be treated with respect. Customers you are all one-YES? Well, when was the last time you wanted to be mistreated? This vacation as you may call it was paid for a long before bail out like a year before. How would you feel if AIG canceled this trip for their customers and wasted the money because of the agreement they had in place? AIG lost by insuring alot you than can't make your payment on your houses, boats, toys etc. KNOW YOUR FACTS! AIG is a giant that got caught up in this lousy market we are all in and if they went down the US economy would not recover for many years. My thought let's get through this and make USA the strongest economy in the world and American International Group is a US company. Stop your negitive thoughts and turn USA into the strongest, the world leaders in everything!

Let's start to get some of the tax dollars back by putting the IRS to some good use, audit every one of the multimillionairs who have driven this company into the ground. In fact I want to lobby for a new law... to perform an audit the first rule will be annual income must exceed 250,000

But more importantly can anyone help me find this bailout stuff in the constitution,

some how I missed it ??
