AIG bailout means facials, pedicures

First off, I apologize if this post makes you throw up. Got a trash can handy? Here we go....

Remember that $85 billion government bailout of insurance company AIG? Surely executives there must be under the gun, working all hours to dig the company out of trouble. Our taxpayer dollars demand that, right?

Nope. Less than a week after getting the $85 billion commitment, AIG execs went on a week-long retreat at the luxurious St. Regis Resort in Monarch Beach, Calif. The trip cost AIG almost half a million dollars, including $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals and $23,000 in spa charges.

Sometimes, after you've worked hard at running a company into the ground, only a pedicure will do. Oh, and a stiff drink. The tab also included $25,000 in "leisure dining," also known as drinking in bars.

Documents uncovering the AIG vacation came out today during a hearing on Capitol Hill.

"If a company is drowning and you're going to spend that kind of money, that's crazy," said one Congressman during the hearing. "The American people are paying for that."

"This unbridled greed," said another. "It's an insensitivity to how people are spending our dollars."

AIG has some explaining to do. But for some reason Congress didn't get any current executives to show up.

The only defense -- a laughable one at that -- came from Eric Dinallo, head of New York State's insurance department.

The worst thing that could have happened after the bailout was for AIG employees to flee the company, Dinallo said. "There was a thinking that they needed to bring everyone together," he said, according to Dealbreaker. "This was not a crazy corporate decision."

There you have it. Bailout be damned; the Wall Street mentality has not changed.

Why is this information only here on MSN it should be sent to every news channel in the U.S. with real names listed not just AIG execs. This should be public information.

Who is watching???? it seams that its party goes on regardless of who is paying the TAB now that it is the taxpayers the way AIG management thinks is to hell with the middle class people now we can have only the rich people insured by AIG because the rich can dig into the poor for everything most of us have worked all of our lives for AND BY GOD IT IS NOT FUNNY ANYMORE SO WIPE THAT STUPID SMILE FROM YOUR FACE MR> BUSH BECAUSE ITS YOU AND MR> CHANEY WHO HAVE DONE THIS TO AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This makes me sick. Here I am in a wheelchair from a snowmobile accident that also cost me my job at GM and I lost $14,000 an climbing in the stock market (I had some Lehman). All I have in the world was $63000 when I lost my job so I invested it before all this mess. Now its down to $49000 and I read this. Lucky my parents are still alive because here I am now at 43 living with them. If it gets much worse I will be lucky to afford  physical therapy and medications for my condition I really am scared now

Subpoena the execs and jail them for contempt if they do not show up. They must face criminal charges and be publicly humiliated.

What is the management still doing in the position to run the company? Congress should be impeached for letting this happen. Why are we protecting these over paid under working  CEO's and other management. Didn't anyone learn anything in the Enron mess?

Did the tab on this "taxpayer rip-off" include the private jet fee?  Company executives with the sense of entitlement that these idiots had to have to do something as outrageous as this... always want private jet travel??? THey should be ashamed of themselves!!!

Did anybody stop to think that AIG would be responsible for hotel room charges and booked banquets to the tune of approx $350K if they no showed and did anybody stop to think that they were not employees, but  very large producing brokers that pruduce business for AIG.  Calling off the incentive would do more harm than good in alianating the biggest producing brokers they have

Who ever the idiot was that set it up and then paid for it should reimburse us poor taxpayers!  If those responsible don't pay up send them to JAIL!

FORGET AIG - WE HAVE TO VOTE OUT EVERY POLITICIAN THAT OPTED TO GIVE IT TO THEM!  I'M ON THE VERGE OF LOSING MY JOB DUE TO THE ECONOMY AND NOW MY GOVERNMENT HAS COMMITTED ME TO PAY FOR THIS????  IT IS EXACTLY WHY THE COMPANY WAS RUN INTO THE GROUND!!  AND THEN TO HAVE THE GOVERNMENT "SNEAK IN" THE PORK ON THIS BILL???  FOLKS, THEY ALL NEED TO GO - EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM.  YOU AND I WERE SCREWED, AND THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.  AND NOW I WANT TO KNOW WHY THIS ISN'T ALL OVER THE NEWS AS IT SHOULD BE!  IT'S WAY PAST TIME TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE NEWS MEDIA.  FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

This is unreal...Go directly to jail..Don't collect $200.   These Exe with big pay checks and big bonus have no idea how the real word is doing.  We need to get accountablity established..enough of this crap.  We need to get this message to our congress members...............this is just plain BS.
