Apple CEO's health: Who will ask about it?

Apple reports its quarterly earnings today, and I'm wondering if anyone is brave enough to put the rumors to rest and actually ask company executives about Steve Jobs' health. The New York Post says that concern about Jobs' health still exists, and people who have met with him recently are troubled by his thin appearance. Even Disney execs were reportedly gossiping about Jobs' weight loss after he attended the company's last board meeting in June. Jobs was treated for pancreatic cancer four years ago.

Why all the talk? Because Jobs at the helm is crucial for Apple, and any possibility that he may not lead the company worries investors. So come on, all you Apple analysts. Draw straws amongst yourselves and just ask during the Q&A.

We'll take a look at Apple's earnings after the bell. Meanwhile, Apple shares are down less than 1% today to $163.74.

Update: Sounds like someone did ask the question. And the answer may just keep the rumor mill atwitter. Jobs has no plans to leave Apple, and his health is a private matter, said CFO Peter Oppenheimer, according to Macworld.

I am not sure why everyone is so concerned with Steve Jobs health?? It is not like the innovations the we have seen from Apple are fruits of his mind alone. They have an excellent R&D department that will continue to innovative long after he retires. CEO's are changed like a pair of pants in the corporate enviroment we live in today, and even though it may take awhile for a new leader to emerge, (if necessary) there will be one, and Apple products will continue to innovatie the technology industry.

go apple go...

What you do not seem to understand (and maybe you are too young to be familiar with apples history) is that before Steve returned to Apple it was a basket case as a company.  He really was the only person capable of bringing the company back - Apple had come to the end of the line as a company.  New management may be as incompetent as the ones who were running the company previous to Mr. Job's return.

Get well soon.

Many people in the Public do not realize the fact that within the Civilian world, Leaders are very rare, and Managers (paper pushers, bean counters, lawyers) are the norm and many Civilians do not even know the difference.

Which would make it almost impossible to find and train a replacement.  Having experience as both US Military Officer and as a Apple Representative (built one of the first Apple Stores within a Store, Computer City, 1993, and later CompUSA, 1998.) this is very clear to me, that you are irreplaceable as a Leader (the norm in the US Military).  It is also clear the you do know that there are many "I"s in real Teams: Innovation, Ingenuity, Intelligence, Iniative, Involvement, Individuality, etc. unlike that non realistic example of a Sports Team that the most expensive player makes or breaks the Sports Team.

Some may see you and Steven Wozinak as creative driving force behind Apple Computers, you are, with your creative vision of the future of what Apple and Personal Computers must become.  I have seen this since the 1970s.

Again Get Well Soon, enjoy being with your family.
