Apple's fake store?

File this one under unnecessary corporate expenses. Apple reportedly built a full-size replica of a store on a Warner Bros. studio lot to film a commercial for the highly-anticipated Steve Jobs keynote on June 9. That's when everyone is expecting Jobs to unveil a new iPhone that works on 3G networks.

So it wasn't possible for Apple to shut down one of its 186 retail stores for a couple hours?

If this is true, maybe Apple has something so secret up its sleeve it couldn't risk a breach in the retail environment. But nope, I'm not going there. Not joining the army of bloggers salivating and speculating about Apple this week. There are more important things going on in the world....aren't there?

Apple shares, by the way, are down 1% today to $183.87 at last check.

Apple is a marketing company, they repackage someone else's technical and computer knowledge, like they always have, ever since Xerox Parc.  Look at products like the Glide and Shadow that are already G3 and that been out for a long time and that run rings around the iPhone in "real utility value".   Apple is arrogant - and wastes money because their products are over priced.  Pete and Wanda are right.

I just wonder when is enough enough?  How much more unconscious consumption can this country withstand?  Living beyond our means only to have the latest, the biggest, the "coolest" so we can prove to whomever that we are better or that they are less than---Hey Mr Jobs how about setting up a private firm to negotiate aid to victims in Myanmar or what about sending help to dig out those kids that were buried in the earthquake in China?  But a fake fascade?...well, I guess that's appropriately American.

I hope they do that every month! That will give you people something to finally occupy your life with.

i think it is a great idea other companies can use it to promote there brands and apple can make some money on the fake store it has.

Pete, see that's the wrong outlook right there, it's not the people, it's the corporations. People deserve things for being slaves to the system. It's people like you who say that it's the PEOPLE that need to change. That's what they WANT you to think. *** THAT, buy your phone and live happy. If you're going to pass on getting something for youself do it for THE RIGHT REASONS, like boycotting the damn corporations. The only thing us people need to kick ourselves in the asses for is falling victim to the mentality that that's the way it is. NO this is YOUR country to YOU ARE JUST AS HUMAN AS THEY ARE. Stand up for yourselves and remember that WE the PEOPLE are the ones that hire our government. THEY WORK FOR US.

Seriously why do you people care what Apple chooses to do with it's money.  Get over it.  Booyah.

A waste  of the owners money.  What else that we don't hear about or is simply lost in G & A?

Nick San Diego - The amount of pollutants need to create a fake storefront is negligible. "Environmentalists" like you are too busy picking on green companies like Apple and not spending enough time on the big issues.

Dude, go complain to China about their pollutants and see how far it gets you.

I just bought another old Nokia bar phone on Ebay for $12.  No camera, no music, no wireless internet, no 2-year contract extension, just a telephone.  iPhone, who cares?  iPod? Got a $34 Sandisk music player from NewEgg.  I am gettin' along just fine bein' a dumpster diver.

I would have to agree with the article...There are more important things going on in the world.
