You may not need to pay full price when you're shopping on the Internet. A Web site offers thousands of coupon codes for all sorts of items you can buy online. You simply find the code for the item you're purchasing, go to the merchant's site and type in the code. Users of the site can rate the success of each code.

Angie at Baby Cheapskate said there is never a reason to pay full price for disposable diapers, and she should know. This blogger tracks diaper sales like the National Weather Service monitors wind gusts. She reports: "In the last two years, there have been four weeks when you couldn't buy a jumbo of Pampers Cruisers or Huggies Supreme for $9 or less -- once in 2006, once in February, once in April, and once in October of this year. Even then, megas, supermegas, or boxes were on sale, and there may have been a good sale in your neck of the woods, but not mine."

The "locavore" concept is that we should try to eat only foods grown within 100 miles of our homes. I'd like to suggest a new challenge: the "frugalvore" movement, which suggests that we eat whatever is on sale that week.
This isn't really a new idea, of course. Your parents likely shopped that way, by looking at the food ads and planning menus around what was cheapest.
You may already do this, if only occasionally. Ever gone shopping for ground beef but changed your mind when you saw a startling deal on whole fryers? If so, you're on your way to being a frugalvore.

Here's a question for you: How many owners did R2-D2 and C-3PO have? OK, we're not sure how many, but we know it was lots. Why? Because the rebels knew how to recycle. That's one of nine lessons in frugality Paul Michael at our partner blog Wise Bread derived from the Star Wars movies. Of course, Paul is talking about those in harmony with the Force, not the dark side. "The Empire is anti-frugality in almost every way," Paul observes. "They build enormous, no-expense-spared Death Stars; they have fancy shiny uniforms; they own the latest technology; they're not exactly thrifty."

An article at MSN Money about things you should buy only when they're new prompted Mrs. Nespy at Mrs. Nespy's World to come up with her own top 10 list. Among her items: child car seats, helmets, mattresses, children's shoes, makeup, hot tubs and many car parts. She also offers an action plan if you really can't afford to buy these things new.

We have to save vicariously through the superstars of drugstore shopping. The closest stores like CVS and Walgreens are 110 miles away. Bloggers at sites like The Centsible Sawyer, Mommy Making Money and Money Saving Mom are buying toiletries, diapers and other necessities for a teeny fraction of what they normally cost. Cathy at Chief Family Officer, a superstar-in-training, has dubbed their use of coupons, rebates and other store discounts "The Drugstore Game." As these champions of saving might say, the proof is in the free pudding.

My favorite yard sale story of all time comes from my friend Meghan Pembleton, sister to an inveterate garage saler. At one such event Meghan's nephew, a preschooler, took a small toy from the "free" box. The sale's host said, "Those are free, honey."
The child gave the garage sale response he'd heard so often from his mom: "Would you take a quarter?"

Call me a geek, but I love new software. I love exploring
the options, I love customizing my settings and I love playing with all the new

Most of all, I love it when new software is free.

A great new resource to help us through tough times made its official debut Tuesday. It's Cities on the Cheap and a network of independently owned On the Cheap Web sites. They guide you to free or discounted food and entertainment and other deals.
The main Web site concentrates on nationwide or regional bargains, like Tuesday's free résumé copies at FedEx Office stores and Tuesday's free fries and drink (with coupon) at Jack in the Box, as well as Blue Man Group concert ticket discounts, BOGO sundaes at Baskin-Robbins, free Arby's Roastburger with purchase of soft drink (you need to print out the coupon for that one, too) and free Irish lessons from Rosetta Stone.
For area bargains on concerts, attractions, restaurants and shopping, consult your local On the Cheap site. If your city -- or one you plan to visit -- isn't listed here yet, keep checking. The On the Cheap network is one sector of the economy that's in growth mode.

With the number of unemployed rising across the country, many people might be thinking of starting a new business or endeavor.
What’s the first thing you need? A business card, of course. A quick Web search shows several sites that offer "free" business cards. We saw one offer from MarketSplash for "100 Free Business Cards -- 100% Free" and decided to see how free "free" is
