With the number of unemployed rising across the country, many people might be thinking of starting a new business or endeavor.
What’s the first thing you need? A business card, of course. A quick Web search shows several sites that offer "free" business cards. We saw one offer from MarketSplash for "100 Free Business Cards -- 100% Free" and decided to see how free "free" is

We take it as an indicator that the economy is ready for a rebound.
What’s that? you say. Spending on St. Patrick’s Day is expected to be $3.29 billion this year -- $32.80 per person for food and festivities, down from last year’s figure of $35.04. That’s about 6%, not much when you look at how the stock market has fallen.
To celebrate, you might want to first find the best price you can on corned beef (if you’re eating in) and second, check out a few of the many deals being offered in celebration of the saint’s day.

How many of us would camp overnight in a fast-food parking lot for a year's worth of weekly chicken dinners? Quite a few, it turns out.
A grass-roots movement is rising and it's not political. Those with the pluck to travel to the next opening of a Chick-fil-A, and are one of the first 100 in line can get 52 coupons for chicken meals, which can be used once a week. Many people are arriving 24 hours ahead of time.

Ask any psychiatrist. Play is important to human beings. In times of stress or economic difficulty, it’s important to remember to have fun.
So, let the games begin. The video games, that is. They’ve gotten even more popular as the economy wanes.
But it’s also clear that consumers are looking for ways to save while satisfying that basic urge. We found several ways to play with little pay.

When our computer screen glows with offers of $100 or a laptop in exchange for a few minutes of our time, it’s hard to resist -- at least, the first time or two.
Then, if your time and privacy mean anything to you, you think twice between clicking.
That was our first reaction when we got an e-mail from an online marketing firm promising a $25 Starbucks gift card. But the cup of java and other graphics in the offer were so appealing, we thought we’d give it a whirl.

Wow. Free bowling for kids. All summer long. Two games a day. Could this be one of those too-good-to-be-true deals?
We checked into Kids Bowl Free and found the offer to be almost as good as it sounds, although there likely is money involved.
Many parents will either need to accompany their young children or want to bowl with their kids. But even then, if you have a penchant for rolling a heavy orb down a wood surface at 10 objects shaped like old milk bottles, you can get a family pass for $23.95 that allows two free games per person a day for up to four adult family members.
So, the whole family can bowl throughout the summer for a total of $23.95.
The real catch: You have to live in a town or area with one of the roughly 300 participating bowling centers. But there’s even wiggle room there.

The money-saving blogosphere is abuzz with the news of a week of double-coupon savings at Kmart. There’s even talk of triple-coupon deals.
To read some of the blogs, you’d suspect this is akin to floodgates of bailout money being opened to consumers across the country.
In reality, these are only coupons, but there are big savings to be had if you are near a participating store.

Mother’s Day is clearly among the most celebrated of American holidays. It’s estimated that 96% of the population participate in the observance, which stretches back more than a century in this country and can be traced to Greek myth. So, the question is: What are you going to do? Given the pervasive nature of a holiday celebrated by nearly everyone, your options are varied and potentially unique. And frugal.

The Mother’s Day deals just keep on coming. Perhaps the most interesting is the gauntlet El Pollo Loco threw down after KFC offered coupons for a free chicken dinner. Earlier in the week, KFC, partnering with Oprah Winfrey, provided a two-day window for downloading coupons for a free dinner featuring its new Kentucky Grilled Chicken. The coupons are good through May 19, but Mother’s Day is excluded from the offer. Now El Pollo Loco is asking, “What does KFC have against mothers?”
