I forgot about used bread stores! We had one close to where I lived in Wisconsin and I used to go there all the time for little snack cakes to have with my lunch! Shame the closest ones to me here in Maryland are at least an hour away....

You might want to look into making your own tortillas and flat bread. My husband was shocked at how simple it was and so he's the baker around here now. Plus, fresh breads are soooooo much better than something full of preservatives that's been sitting around on a shelf for who knows how long. We also got a bread machine to make regular bread. If we had more free time we'd just make it by hand, but the bread machine does make it too easy. We ended up getting a Zojirushi machine and love it because it does sooo much, but if you don't want to spend money on a bread machine, check your local Freecycle group.

I just went to the bread outlet this past Wednesday (7/2), the expiration date on the bread was 7/11. Can't beat two loaves of Wonderbread for $1.70 and two packages of hotdog buns for $1.29!

We pay 7.98 for 10l loaves, 1. 29 for a box of 8 cookie rolls.79 cents for 12 buns.$2 for 1 dozen doughnuts, I just love this bakery outlet.

some 99 cents stores or discount stores that are located in some high ethnic areas will sell the tortillas for 99 cents and have fruits and veggies for the same amount and remember shelf life is for use the next few days after purchase that is why the merchandise is at these stores

I love our bakery outlet. We have one within 5 minutes of me (and just around the corner from the grocery store) and I go there quite often. They even have a loyalty program punch card after so much money spent (One trip easily fills up half the card) you get free stuff plus you get free stuff after you spend so much too. On our last trip we got 1 unopened box of chocolate moon pies, 4 loaves of rye bread, 2 loaves of wheat bread, a bag of bagels, and my husband got 4 small things (Pies, cookies, etc.) all for $13.00! I just take it home and freeze it and we have plenty of goodies for a month. We love shopping there.

I have been freezing bread for years. We are a family of two and do not consume a loaf of bread very fast. It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes for a couple of slices to thaw to make a sandwich or thaw in the toaster while you are making breakfast. The city I live in has three different bread outlet stores....Bunny, Merita, and Wonder all within close proximity of where I live. Happy hunting and shopping for those bargains!!!!
