My husband calls flowers "dead and decaying foliage" and he rarely gets me any. BUT he cooks, he does the kitty box every day as well as helping me with the house and laundry.

When I used to go to work before him, he would get up and make me coffee and bring it to me in bed. If I want jewelry I'll buy it myself, I'd rather have my husband just the way he is than a bunch of "stuff".

Last V-day I was going through Chemo, and my husband had to help with a lot of the chores around the house plus work his full time job, I know it was tough for him, but he hung in there and I'm through my Cancer treatments and he's still helping around the house and cleaning the kitty boxes...and that's love. This years V-day I have my 1 year PET/CAT Scan scheduled and the "good" news with be my V-day present - along with a very nice home cooked meal with my loving husband.

My first Valentine's with my husband, he cooked this great meal, and set it up picnic style in front of the fireplace. We had a great time.

One V-day, my hubby cooked up a storm (after banning me from the house for the day). When I returned he was waiting for me just inside the apartment door, completely nekkid, holding a beautiful, long stemmed rose. Dinner was wonderful, the laughs were amazing, and I won't even try to tell you about DESSERT!!

What a great article! My husband and I are currently in a huge financial CRUNCH and I still wanted to do something nice for Valentine's Day and these are great ideas!
