Just take a two-hole paper punch and dig into the card. The cut plastic can then be recycled without worrying about identity issues since the cut-outs are all jumbled up and impossible to piece back together.

I'm dumbfounded by the notion of such elaboration, which consists of senseless verbiage pertaining to the destruction of a such a tiny piece of plastic. This article's origin is from a source that is opposite of an 'oracle'... When I first unfortunately read this mental headache & cranial debacle, I thought of two words: 1) Superfluity 2) Poppycock

...Later, I had an opiphany of en masse 'population control'...'reproductive caps'...and any other means to keep stupidity from spreading like wildfire. I understand that doltish individuals and erroneous imbeciles need to group together......as if they need comforting blankets featuring wraps of ignorance, but please...(the bottome line)...lets save some time and sum this whole thing up in 3 simple words: Cut the card!

Let's face it -- merchants, on-line or next door, and the transaction routing service providers are far bigger a threat than would-be ID thieves going through your trash.

I shred or cut up my credit card, then put it in a sack & put USED cat litter on top of it. With 2 cats, I have an almost endless supply. I figure that someone must really be desperate to go through used, smelly cat litter if they want to get my credit card number/info.

I put mine in the bottom of the trash bag when I clean the cat's litter box. I don't think anyone is crazy enough to dig through used cat litter to see what's underneath.
