My wife has done it for years and I gave up trying to convince her that she needed to go to a stylist. You cannot cut your own hair properly unless you are giving yourself a buzz cut.

Find someone you like to cut your hair even if it takes a couple of bad haircuts. A woman with nice hair is always hotter than one with a bad haircut they gave themselves.

Shorter , will fall in your face and it will be hard to pull back (not the answer for you)

Trimming it to a length that can still be pulled back will do you better.

with this new legnth i would suggest layering it up to pop those curls in. You could still pull it back. However, when you want to wear it down it will give you a better shape and be very sexy. A good conditiner with a product from a line called AG it is called Recoil. There is a shampoo, conditioner and the recoil leave in it will define your curls but not leave it hard like a gel can. IT will define and defrizz and add a ton of shine. You can air dry or use a diffuser with your blow dryer.

Not saying you c an't go short...You can but in my opinion you would have to style it more. For a extra styling idea. Invest in a good flat iron. THis will give you the flexability to have straight hair when you want it. Good Luck!
