Before you hold your nose and run screaming from the room, hear me out. I'm not talking about a shirt in which I've done a day's worth of hard manual labor in the hot sun

re: Wear it again, Sam: Delaying laundry day

i would like to know about the difference between those clothes that need to be hanged with those that should be folded!

Using the light/quick setting on the new, front-loading washers is very gentle on the clothing and will remove most odors and dirt. That's the best way for someone living in a tropical climate to deal with keeping their clothes clean and odor free.

BTW, I find it hard to believe that people still separate their colors!

Have a section in your closet or wardrobe where you would store your reworn clothes and hang a cedar block - available in packs of 2 in the household laundry section of Walmart. Place the second one on the floor where you store your shoes. These blocks are great for absorbing odors.I just write the date on the blocks with a sharpie, and make a point of changing them every 3 or 4 months. Also charcoal sachets work equally as well. I also always place a drier sheet or two in the drawers where i keep folded stuff like t-shirts ect. Undies and similar "smalls" are rinsed thru in the sink at night before bed and hung on the shower rail. These small practices can save on time, money and the environment. If you get into a similar habit like this you can rewear without worry!

My ex used to try to do this and he smelled terrible. he wasn't fooling me.

Use one of the following as a guidline:

1) If a smell you can tell, or a stain you can't hide...get the Tide!

2) If a stink or a stain...get the Gain!

I have been rewearing my clothes for years, I rewear work clothes twice (provided I didn't spill anything major on them) and my everday "play" clothes get worn 3-4 times before they get washed (once again provided nothing nasty got spilled on them.) This is a really good idea, your clothes are going to wear down eventually, but why not make them last longer? Save water, save power, save your clothes, and save money. In this economy, and with all the "green" efforts of the nation these days (we've been "green" here in Oregon for quite some time now) it's one of the best things you can do for your pocketbook and your planet!
