That question is the first addressed by the new " Frugal Court ," presided over by Richard at Student Scrooge . I get about 11 DVDs a month when I'm watching faithfully. Much cheaper than the only video store in town, which has a very limited selection. Love the recommendations, cuz it often suggests a movie I had forgotten I wanted to see. Plus, I live in the middle of nowhere, so our local library has only a few DVDs. Now I can catch up on all those shows I never had time to watch weekly when I was working two jobs!

We don't watch a lot of videos but the killer for us is an occasional late fee. Despite our best intentions we seemed to hit one every few months.

I just changed our plan from 2 at a time/4 per month with 12 hours instant online for ~$12/month. It's now $9/month and only 1 DVD at a time, but unlimited per month and unlimited instant viewing.

I have an old computer and bought a old generation of video card that has TV output, for $20. I hooked it up to the TV and we now have more video on demand that we could possibly watch. Many of the movies are older but some are fairly recent. I'm happy, and it's even cheaper than before.
