realize that a financial provider/adviser is the worst thing you could ever do,

they charge fees and service charges that you'll never get back.

by the time you figure out the rate of return you need to get to make money

Nowhere on the list do I see anything about learning/knowing when to seek legal advice. If more people took the time to protect their own financial interests, there wouldn't be as many people dealing with the mortgage mess that they are in.

House is paid for and have considerable amounts spread around in bank deposits, stocks, and CD's. Do you really have a need for household insurance, life insurance, and other forms of insurances not required by law?

One big thing totally omitted here.....one does need to know how to monitor their credit scores, as well as how to address inaccurate information. But more importantly than that, how to deal with identity theft and what to do should your wallet be stolen, etc. is fairly important. How many people actually have a copy of (front and back) of their cards incase they need to contact the credit card agencies?

Bribe? - yeah, that's a skill I want to teach my sons. Along with cutting in line, cheating others, cheating on taxes. Give me strength!

That would be a good one to cut from your list. Maybe replace it with handling money with honor and integrity or giving benevolently to those in need.
