I never stand in the long lines any more. Most of the Black Friday sales are available for purchase online Thanksgiving Day. Why stand out in the cold, when you can shop Thanksgiving morning in your PJs.

You won't find me out there shopping on Black Friday! I hate crowds! I have my shopping over halfway done and only have to buy a little more for 2 of the kids, a present for my mom, a frame for mil, and something we're going in halves for for hubby's uncle. Normally I would have this all done, but this year we had money constraints. I will finish shopping up on December 4th when hubby gets his first paycheck of December and supposedly a nice bonus. We budgeted only $100 per kid so this year gift total will be less than $500. I don't know if I will be doing much online shopping - guess it depends on the deals. What shopping I will do will be done first thing in the mornings Monday through Wednesday. You're not going to find me anywhere near a mall or a Wally World on a weekend!!

The deals on 2008 Black Friday don't seem to be the killer deals they used to be. I think Donna has it right - shop online and find the best deals that way. PC World and MSN posted a site www.2008blackfridayads.com that posts both 2008 Black Friday Ads and good deals you can get now. They have listed items such as Samsung TV, Wii and GPS. We have already clicked on their different links and found some good deals that allowed us to start our Christmas shopping without getting up early and freezing on Black Friday.

For me, Thanksgiving is now my deadline for having my Christmas gifts bought. Some think I'm crazy to finish it up that early, but this time of the year is also the busiest at work for me (a lot of overtime), and every weekend after Turkey Day is booked with holiday parties, weddings, etc. I enjoy Black Friday by popping in a holiday movie, making some cocoa, and wrapping the mountain of presents I have because I know over the next few weeks, it will be hard to find the time to do it!

ok, i'll share. I googled black friday, reluctantly. I looked at the opening page like i watch scary movies - through my fingers. OK, nothing revealing on the listings...so i click...nothing revealing, only articles and then I come across this blog. The title intrigues me, like a catholic girl comtemplating her virginity. I'm confilcted. Do I or Don't I? And then previous blogs remind me of the magic and excitement of waiting. A dilemma only a catholic can truly appreciate. Don't tell me to get a life..I'll be in line at 4:00 a.m. black friday to get a shiny new one - on sale! And if you don't get where I'm coming from maybe you can join me to get yourself a sense of humor 1/2 price.

I prefer to read the ads from the Thanksgiving Day newspaper. Used to go shopping with hubby day after to start & finish our shopping while grandparents watched little ones. Now husband works day after, kids are older & I do my shopping that day on-line after reading the paper the night before. I can buy exactly what I want, I'm not tempted to buy anything else as I would have been walking through the mall, & if an item is only available for BF price in the stores then I have friends that thrive on shopping the malls that day & I ask them to look for the item(s) for me. If they get it, fine. If not, that's okay too.

I always hear about the great deals people get on Black Friday, but crowds bother me so much that I just dont go. Besides usually stuff I want is not going to go on sale, and why should I get up at an ungodly hour to spend money on things I dont want, even if heavily discounted? In general, between Thanksgiving and after New Years, I try to not go to a store unless absolutely have to. Christmas gift? Online! Who knew a bit of agoraphobia could save me money :-)

Black Friday is so much fun and its the best day of the year to save lots of money. I found a site online who seems to be featuring mainly online deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Last year, alot of retailers seemed to have the same prices online as they did at their brick and mortar stores. Unless you like the hype of going out Black Friday morning at 5:00 a.m., shopping online can really pay off with all the free shipping. This site even has a page devoted to free shipping offers.

I check every single advertisement because I know what I am looking for. I may see something at one store for one price and do price matching at Wal-Mart with circulars in hand.

My daughter and I go very early in the morning and get those few things that are on my list. It's a great time of bonding with her. After the initial shopping, we eat the breakfast we prepared the night before and continue to look around the mall or other decorated stores - watching people. Then we come home around 10:00 and TAKE A NAP!!!

And yes Donna, the first Christmas after finding out about Santa was a bummer.
