Also keep in mind that many museums have admission that is based on donations. Here in NYC if a museum receives state funding they cannot charge a set admission and can only request donations so you can get into the museum for almost nothing! (I always pay $1 donations when I go because I know they still need the income even though they are already being paid out of my tax dollars.)
