We have one here where I live, and you do need to watch the prices there. Our local grocery store had heads of lettuce and some fruits on sale cheaper than what Aldi's had. Aldi's was .30 more for the lettuce, and .50 more a lb for the fruit. I live in a smaller town, so the grocery store is not that far away to drive to.

For those that go to the farmers markets or the other markets and buy the food inexpensively, go ahead and get what you want. There are alot of veggies that can be frozen to be used later. I have a garden and I freeze my beans, tomatoes, peppers, etc. Also with the meat that you can get. It all freezes.

Also what my hubby and I do is buy a pork roast or a pork loin when on sale at a good price. We get a bigger roast, then cut it into a few smaller ones. With the pork loins, we cut off a good piece for roast, and then cut the rest up into pork chops. We can get at least 3 meals out of the roast and three to four meals with the loin.

For example, suppose your local flea market is open only on Fri & Sat, & has aproduce stand. Well, come closing time on Sat, they've got to pack everything up. Whatever isn't fresh enough to last until next week (or until they set up at their next location) either gets tossed or sold for pennies on the dollar.

I've bought large boxes of produce this way for $1 each. Yeah, you have to be a little creative in order to be sure that you'll use as much of it as possible before it goes bad (& some of it might), but it's a great way to save some $$$.
