There are certain ways to get free money or free stuff simply by paying attention, keeping track, and being careful. I don't do these things. Mike is right. Stop giving free money to the credit card companies and especially to the IRS. Figure your taxes so that your refund at the end of the year is as close to 0 dollars on the positive side as you can get. The IRS charges you for keeping their money, but doesn't give pay you for keeping yours. Figure out what you get extra each month by changing your W-4 and put it in a savings account!

We need to just remember to follow what we believe to be our best choices not someone elses. The article did make some good points on things to be on the outlook for. Some people are better organized and can stay on top of these types of offers. Others, like myself are improving their organizational skills and can benefit from a heads up. I just did the magazine thing and yes I hope I didn't go over the cancel out date. So that advice to write cancel right away was good. Opinions, opinions all over the place, every where, every where, well you just got mine!

It usually is true that niothing is free in life, but if one is incredibly organized, a few can be used to simulate free! Credit cards are the must under regulated item in consumer America, Once you get in their clutches, it is like owing a legal loan snark. Tear up those offers. Cash is still cheaper if they will even tske it. You need plastic for hotels, reservations, but not groceries, dates, and frat houses. Think before you spend is a good mantra for all of you. Maybe this recession will remind us of that.

It didn't work. After twelve years, we have both the hospital and credit cards paid off. Now, we are cash only. We purchase what we need rather than what we want. For larger purchases, we save until we can pay for it.My vehicle has over 223K miles and I plan to keep it until it drops. Five more years and our house is paid for.

Credit card companies are charging today, what would be called loan sharking a few decades ago.

Put that interest you're paying those companies into the bank!

She uses the guises of invention, creativity and altruism to state the simple fact that she is a financial failure and wanted to relate to the myriad others in America who are responsable for their own financial irresponsibilities and misfortunes and, ultimately, the entire credit crisis. Buffoons. Get your fiancial ships in order. The time, money and concentration to do it will ultimately pay off so handsomely that what it cost per hour will matter literallly. How much do you really want to "be paid per hour" (actually, how much is an financial ignoramus worth anywhay?) to insure your plentiful retirement and university for your children? There are simply such things that no price or salary can be attached to and the writer tried to do so. I suggest that if she is so afraid of free money that she send back her stimilus check, dolt.

I did this for two years before the card companies started charging the transfer fees.

Any ways I have one card with 0.99% for the life of the loan. With that earning 5.44% I profit very well. But who knows if they will change the rate unexpectedly.

You would have to be very organized and probably write down everything so you won't forget. God bless the people that can keep up with this. The same thing goes for the tv, if they call or advertise like Starz free for 3 months, most people would probably forget to write down the date it would end so they don't get stuck paying, which makes it tougher, expecially in this economy.
