Looking for the best Web resources for bargains, coupons, cheap travel, personal-finance tools and other ways to save money?
One excellent list is Liz Pulliam Weston's "The 100 most useful Web sites," posted at MSN Money. Now our partner blog Wise Bread, whose bloggers recently authored the entertaining "10,001 Ways to Live Large on a Small Budget," has produced a similar effort -- "190 best ways to save money online."
There is some overlap. For instance, everyone loves RetailMeNot and one of our favorite sites, Bankrate. And both Liz and the Wise Bread folks are fans of Tim Ferriss, Zen Habits' Leo Babauta and Smart Spending. (We are honored.)
But each list has its own strengths. Here's how to make the best use of both.

Ask any psychiatrist. Play is important to human beings. In times of stress or economic difficulty, it’s important to remember to have fun.
So, let the games begin. The video games, that is. They’ve gotten even more popular as the economy wanes.

Angie at Baby Cheapskate said there is never a reason to pay full price for disposable diapers, and she should know. This blogger tracks diaper sales like the National Weather Service monitors wind gusts. She reports: "In the last two years, there have been four weeks when you couldn't buy a jumbo of Pampers Cruisers or Huggies Supreme for $9 or less -- once in 2006, once in February, once in April, and once in October of this year. Even then, megas, supermegas, or boxes were on sale, and there may have been a good sale in your neck of the woods, but not mine."

Call me a geek, but I love new software. I love exploring
the options, I love customizing my settings and I love playing with all the new

Most of all, I love it when new software is free.

We take it as an indicator that the economy is ready for a rebound.
What’s that? you say. Spending on St. Patrick’s Day is expected to be $3.29 billion this year -- $32.80 per person for food and festivities, down from last year’s figure of $35.04. That’s about 6%, not much when you look at how the stock market has fallen.
To celebrate, you might want to first find the best price you can on corned beef (if you’re eating in) and second, check out a few of the many deals being offered in celebration of the saint’s day.

Energy Star appliances would probably be a lot more popular if they weren't so expensive. These energy-efficient appliances generally cost more than their non-Energy Star counterparts. Someone has to pay for the R&D.
If the promise of energy savings isn't enough to outweigh the sticker shock, a post at Wallet Blog says you can find rebates and other incentives to make the purchase more affordable. (Wish we'd known that before we bought a new washer last year.)
But what exactly does the Energy Star label mean?

Memorial Day is a day to remember the ultimate sacrifice of our nation’s service members. It’s also the unofficial beginning of summer and a time to cast off the dregs of winter. We’re got a few deals and freebies that should help with that, including a free breakfast, free frozen yogurt, a great deal on a frosty, and free pizza for kids.

I know I'm late to the dance here, but I finally understand why people love The Freecycle Network so much. You can give or get, de-cluttering your life or filling some basic needs at no cost.
No matter how odd the item, you can probably unload it. Earlier this week I gave away a half-pint of keys.
