A farewell column -- or not

For the past 16 months I've been writing three essays a week for
Smart Spending. Now I've been tapped to produce "Living With Less," a
new personal-finance column for MSN Money. (The introductory column,
"Live well without going into debt," appeared on Jan. 21.)
While I'm excited about the new opportunity, I'm also a little
sad. The Smart Spending blog feels like a member of my family. I care
about what happens to it, and I don't want to give up the interaction
with readers.
Fortunately, I won't have to.
My able colleague, Karen Datko, will continue to accept my
contributions. They'll be shorter items, rather than thrice-weekly
essays, but I can still keep my hand in.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to have done this job for all
these months. I'm grateful for the advice and insights of those who
commented on the blog or the Smart Spending message board (which I'll
still be hosting, by the way).
And I'm grateful for an additional venue. A woman I know
recently used this phrase: "I spend little and live richly." That's the
spirit behind the new column -- the idea that living well and living
within one's means are not mutually exclusive.
Both "Living With Less" and Smart Spending are a chance to offer
not just financial strategies, but ways of looking at money
differently. (Hint: Money is a useful tool. It is not a religion.)
So keep looking for me on Smart Spending, and come check out
"Living With Less" on MSN Money, every other Wednesday. Thanks for all
that you've shared, and all that you've taught me.
