Two frugal foodie bloggers have outdone themselves with compilations of affordable (and some higher-priced) recipes for Thanksgiving this year.

Kris at Cheap Healthy Good heroically assembled the "The only Thanksgiving post you'll ever need: 100+ links for Turkey Day."

Kris says: "Thanksgiving is upon us, and I don't know about you, but I've read approximately 40,000,000 blog posts and magazine articles dealing with next Thursday's dinner. And that's just today."

Jenn at Frugal Upstate asked for her readers' best recipes for Thanksgiving side dishes, desserts and leftovers, as well as affordable suggestions for crafts and traditions. (Feel free to contribute your own ideas to her site.)

Kris organized her 100-plus links into 14 categories, including "affordable Thanksgivings," "healthy Thanksgivings" and "vegetarian Thanksgivings."

There's a lot of valuable information here, including every possible way to cook the turkey -- brining, deep frying, grilling (direct heat and indirect heat), and many variations on traditional roasting. Kris' work paid off for us. We've opted to try roasting ours without basting in a 450-degree oven -- a method highly recommended by Gourmet.
