Do you want to get free stuff on the Internet with no strings attached and no spam? Incredible as it may seem, you can. Hey, It's Free! makes this guarantee:
You will never need a credit card or a single dime to get any of the freebies posted on HIF. The only things you need in order to have an enjoyable time around here is a mailing address and a sense of humor, not necessarily in that order.
HIF is one of seven money-saving Web sites recommended in an article in ShopSmart, a product of Consumers Union, the same people who publish Consumer Reports.
HIF is run by a guy named Goob -- his hobbies "include reading, disproving the Scientific Method, and molding busts of Napoleon Bonaparte out of tin foil," the Web site says -- with help from Adam and Shaynon. Goob says he spends his time "looking for 100% legit, non-spammy freebies." The site also offers humorous product reviews.
Others on the ShopSmart list:
-
Buzzillions.com for user reviews from real buyers.
-
Ebates.com for rebates.
-
Freeshipping.org for free-shipping coupons. It also discloses the minimum order needed to get free shipping from more than 800 stores.
-
PriceGrabber.com to find the lowest price. "Unlike many other price-comparison sites, PriceGrabber.com lets you calculate the total cost of an item, including shipping and tax," ShopSmart says. "Seller ratings, which can be sorted by highest to lowest or by most recent, are also helpful."
-
RetailMeNot.com for valid coupon codes. Publish
-
Shop It To Me will e-mail you notices about sales after you tell the site what kind of stuff you want to buy.
