On how much I would Charge my Kids rent:  Would be based on the amenities they use and how often they utilize each one. Say for instance you have a child staying at home who takes two (2) showers a day. That places a heavy load  unto the water bill, or say he's on the computer six (6) hours a day. Computers eat a lot juice and this would increase the electric bill as well. How much does he watch television and monopolize it for games. Televisions today with all the Digital Gadgetry again uses more current. Then lets talk about some of the amenities that are just simply there. Food, airconditioning, hot water heater, heat in the winter, baking, cooking refrigerator. These all must play a determinate part in calculating the amount you might want to charge you Child who can not afford to rent his own appartment.

Twenty years ago when I was in College and staying at home my Mother figured up all of these various components into a break down of  estimating how much  she figured the added cost for each the amenities that I would use and of course one would be taking advatage of them all.

She also set limits as to when you were to be home, obeying the rules she has deignated, and absolute control and autority over every device that would be used, except the shower.

When all was said and done she came up with a figure she calculated that would cover the increased cost for me to live and have access to all of the amenities, which came to roughly $50.00 a week.

Now the reason she charged weekly is some months have almost a whole extra week taht would be accounted for if charging by the month. She figured this weekly rate as a comfortable fit for not only her, but also forme, as I did not have to come up with a large sum of cash at the end of the month, therefore putting less stress on my budgitary concerns.

This system worked extremely well as we were both benefiting with the least amount of strain on either of the budgets, Household, and School.

Now I bring out a very important aspect this $50.00 a week, as it was twenty (20) years ago. today the cost could very easily be doubled for a college student staying at home.

Where else could you have all the amenities paid for, for $400.00 a month. Today you can't even look at an appartment for this, let alone afford all the wonderful extras Mom & Dad will supply you with and you even get to sleep in your own bed. Now what can you beat that with?
