Do you want to be absolutely sure that you'll work many long years and retire with little more than a paltry Social Security check? Then make sure you read and obey Kevin's "10 steps to avoid becoming a millionaire" at No Debt Plan.

This blogger manages to put a humorous spin on a very sobering topic. Here's No. 6: "Ignore work benefits. 401(k) plan? Sounds kind of funny to me. Why would the company want to give me money? Plus, I'd miss that 3% in every paycheck."

Here are a few more samples from this worthwhile post:

You should also spend more than you earn. "If the credit card company is willing to let you pay off that plasma TV next year, why shouldn't you? You're in your prime!" Kevin says.

Accept the salary you're offered. "Negotiating is a hard, scary process," Kevin observes. "Don't bother with it and just be happy you have a job."

Damn right be happy you have a job. I got fired from mine in 1982 and never landed another full time job.  I have done everything I possibly could to find work short of putting myself out for prostitution and I would have done that if I thought I could make any money at it.  I changed my name and tried to be some one else. ala Doctor Lee Johnson when in fact I have only a few college credits.  I almost pulled that one off and was on my third interview before something stupid tripped me up. I did end up on social security at $834 a month and that won't start till next month.  God it has been a hard 26 years.  I have lived in  caves in tents in cardboard boxes under trees and at homeless missions all this time.  I have gotten food stamps every month for each of those 26 years.  I have never been hungry, but I have spent a few days in jail for public urination sleeping in a car and sleeping in the park.  They don't have any mercy for the homeless.  I have gotten $10 many times to just move on.  They called it gas money.  When all I had was a bicycle.

Well next moth is narvana I will get a check and I bet I will have money left at the end of the month.  Any takers

Thank you for sharing that post.  Funny but at the same time, many do live like that.
