Gasoline is cheap, compared with Dawn and Krazy Glue

Here's some water cooler conversation for you: Gasoline is hugely inexpensive if you compare it with the cost of many common household liquids. One blogger did, and found that the cost of 2% milk is $3.99 a gallon, Dawn dish detergent is $11.43, Kikkoman soy sauce is $18.21, and Krazy Glue is an incredible $2,322.29 per gallon.

Of course, this comparison -- provided by Xin Lu of our partner blog Wise Bread (Xin is also The Baglady) -- won't help your pain when you're paying at the pump, but it is entertaining.

Think those drinks you purchase aren't expensive? Consider this: Starbucks frappuccino iced coffee is $20.48 a gallon, Monster energy drink is $12.80, and Snapple peach tea is $7.68. Arizona ice tea is a relative bargain at $3.99. Coca-Cola and Pepsi are $5.33.

Xin based her prices on the per-ounce cost of items at her local Safeway in San Mateo, Calif., so prices could be different in your area. The cheapest gas price she could find near home was $3.53.

Safeway canola oil is $9.84, Safeway peanut oil is $13.89, and Bertolli extra virgin olive oil is a much pricier $77.75 per gallon. Cheap whiskey she uses for cooking and Robert Mondavi chardonnay are both $28.16 per gallon.

Xin notes that gasoline in the U.S. is much cheaper than it is in Europe, and suspects that explains why the Europeans have better public transportation. She said the price comparison also made her realize how expensive packaged drinks are. "I do get most of my drinks free at work, but the most frugal thing to do is to just drink tap and save the money for gas," she writes.

If you think those are high look at the price per gallon of HP ink it is literally higher than that of blood!

Regardless of cost, you can CHOOSE not to use Dawn or Pepsi or Kikkoman Soy Sauce...however what can you choose in place of Gasoline for your current car?

You can choose not drive as much. I have a Ford 250 truck that costs nearly $100.00 to fill up. My wife has a Honda Accord that we can fill up for around $60.00.

We have used her car for most of our driving whenever possible and I now fill up my truck only once a month. I used to just jump in my truck and go whenever I pleased, but not anymore. We are spoiled in the U.S. We need to stop complaining and take steps to use less gas. When demand drops so will the price of gas.

DRIVE FAST WASTE GAS, DRIVE SPEED LIMIT SAVE GAS, YOU CAN SAVE 7% TO 23% ON YOUR GAS BILL.  IT'S YOUR MONEY

Yes , one can save gas by going slower, putting trips together ,etc.   I believe the time has come to take Speculation out of the Oil commodity market.. Why  do we as end users of a necessary item ,allow lies, meaningless stories ,possible weather related problems, and brokers etc.,SPECULATORS  continuously bidding up the price of Oil  .Are these  price jumps being manipulated by the industry  possibly by paid commodities experts?? Stop Raising Prices on fuel already in the system. If the price needs to be adjusted for a REAL Reason ,so be it..
