Financial reckoning: Blogger is 'trumped' by his inner voice

Steve at brip blap recently had a conversation with himself -- Brip vs. Blap -- about his progress on reaching his financial goals. Unfortunately for him, inner voice Brip sounds a lot like Donald Trump. Obviously unimpressed with dawdler Blap's efforts in generating additional income, the Trump-like Brip says, "Blap, it's a good thing you and I are the same person or I'd fire you ...."

In this creative post, Steve covers many of the fundamentals of managing personal finances, including: Review your goals, look for outside sources of income, and -- here's the joy part -- make the process as fun as you can.

Blap is pretty good at rationalizing his poor alternative-income stream. He says he spent a lot of time shopping for a new car, which, he's quick to point out to Brip, was paid for with cash. Of course, the money spent on the car will no longer be generating interest.

The conversation ends like this:

"Blap: And the playoffs were on. And we have been doing very well at work, what with the rate increase and the potential referral bonuses. (pause)

"Brip: The playoffs? Get out of my office. You have a lot of work to do.

"Blap: Yes, sir. (leaves room, dejected)

"Brip (to self): Well, the playoffs were good. WE STOMP YOU OUT!"
