The rule "you get what you pay for" doesn't necessarily apply to wine, Lazy Man at Lazy Man and Money reminds us. He presents a guide to saving money on wine that can be useful whether you routinely indulge or are a beer guy on a budget who has no idea what wine to take to a holiday dinner. If you enjoy a glass of wine on a regular basis, the savings can add up if you follow his advice. "If you and a significant other drink wine four days a week, you'll consume more than an amazing 83 bottles a year," Lazy Man writes. Even at a modest $8 a bottle, that amounts to what he pays for cable TV each month. But you don't have to resort to Mad Dog to cut your wine expenses.

Among his tips: Buy in bulk. Lots of stores offer a discount when you buy six or 12 bottles at a time. Avoid the big names with the big prices, and don't turn up your nose at "Two- Buck Chuck," the Charles Shaw wines sold at Trader Joe's. Lazy Man also mentions wine in a box. Don't smirk. We've noticed that the selection of boxed wines has expanded and greatly improved in recent years.

I am a spirtual person and every penny has "in God we Trust" so everytime I pick one up, it reminds me of that.  I like some of the ideas on how to spend it, so I will start saving it to give to a charity or a person in need.  Thanks!

I have a solution even better for saving money on wine, don't drink. Yeah, yeah red wine is supposed to be good for you but most of us just use that as a way of getting rid of our drinking guilt.
